Plus Fitness Brand Ambassador and Supercar Driver Andre Heimgartner qualified in last place after missing the set-up on Saturday, but put in a splendid drive to come home in eighth place in the proud pink Plus Fitness Supercar, equalling his best-ever Supercars Championship result.

On Sunday, Andre Heimgartner put on an even better performance to rival Saturday and secured his best-ever Supercars Championship solo driver result, coming home in sixth place in the final race of the 2018 Supercars Championship in Newcastle yesterday!

After securing a place in the top 10 shoot-out, Heimgartner used a calculated strategy to come home in sixth, just behind Walkinshaw Racing’s James Courtney.

Heimgartner had to do it the hard way though, after his cool suit failed midway through the race, forcing him to battle through the heat to record his outstanding result.

Andre had this to say about the weekends results:

“It was an interesting day for us on Saturday. I just stayed out of trouble and made places up when others were spearing off,” said Andre Heimgartner.

“From dead last, this is a good result and definitely not what I expected.

“It was great to get this result on Sunday. I desperately wanted the next place, but I had nothing left in me," said Andre Heimgartner.

“I had a cool suit failure which made it really difficult, especially at the end.

“We had two really solid races this weekend. To have the speed to be up there was a really good thing. I am really happy with how the round panned out.”

It was great to see the Plus Fitness V8 Supercar take on the pink livery as part of the Plus Fitness/ Nissan Motorsport Breast Cancer Awareness Week. The week leading up to the Newcastle 500 saw over 180 Plus Fitness gyms get involved and promote Breast Cancer Network Australia to raise much needed funds for the charity as well as highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness.
